On Monday the 21st of May, Rachael Starkey will be cutting off her ponytail and donating over 30cm of her hair to make a human hair wig for a patient with alopecia areata.
Alopecia areata is an auto-immune disease which results in the loss of hair on the scalp and body. It can occur in males and females, and at any stage of life, but it most often presents in those under the age of 25.
The Australian Alopecia Areata Foundation (AAAF) 'wigs for Kids' program is an introductory program for children newly diagnosed with alopecia. This program provides financial assistance to children if they choose to wear a wig and provides them with the pros and cons that are associated with their decision.
Financial assitance is needed due to the popularity of human hair extensions; the cost of wigs for medical reasons is becoming more and more expensive. Funding in different states can differ and some states have no funding or rebates available.
Rachael's goal is to fundraise $2000, which will enable the AAAF to support 5 children who are newly diagnosed with alopecia through the Wigs for Kids program.

Hi Everyone,
It's CHARITY and TRIVIA time again!
QUTSPA is fundraising for the Day of Difference Foundation. This Australian charity is dedicated to supporting critically injured children and their families. Around 10,000 Australian children are rushed to the emergency department of a hospital every year as a result of critical injury. Day of Difference aims to provide vital, practical, in hospital support to families affected by the tragedy and shock of having their child critically injured. So please help us make a difference!

QUTSPA has made Facebook groups for each different year level, which will be used to post up social and educational events and is a place where students can help each other.

You can still buy physical tickets from myself or Laura when we are at uni but we will be having a guest list on the night so this is not really needed and please remember to pay the correct amount, especially for +1's
